    This year was the 20th anniversary of the yearly Minnesota Metro American Truck Historical Society show, but it was my first visit. The show was great, but I got there late in the afternoon and some of the better trucks had already left due to the 90+ degree heat and the show being nearly 7 hours long. Next year I will need to get there earlier.

    I like to make top 10 lists of the photos I take at classic auto shows, but sometimes I cannot narrow it down to just 10. With nearly 1200 photos taken the weekend of this show, I just couldn't keep it at 10 and 13 was hard enough.

    The MSRA Back to the 50's show is held yearly in June, at the St. Paul MN State fairgrounds. This year 11,700+ cars, trucks, and hot rods were registered, just missing 12,000. They have been at 11,700+ for the last 3 years now, it would be great if they could hit the 12k mark next year.

    As soon as the automobile was built and designed to move people, it wasn’t long before the implications of adding room to move cargo was devised. Early pickups were sold as the chassis only, and the buyer had to either build or buy from another company the cab and box. Popularity of the pickup truck grew after the war, after successful models during the war were introduced to the civilian market. Market share grew further during the 1960’s and 1970’s as RV grew in popularity and the American family needed something with more towing capacity to pull RV’s, boats, and trailers.
